Add to Chrome or Add to Firefox is unavailable
A store button becomes active when that browser's official listing is available. Check Getting started for current availability. For a managed browser, ask your administrator to approve installation.
Device or language options are disabled in Firefox
Use Chrome for new responsive presets and language simulations. Firefox supports page capture and review, including saved responsive or localized images. See browser features.
SnapDiff asks to reload
Finish any text edit or capture, then choose Reload SnapDiff and reopen the popup. Your captures, drafts, and settings remain available.
Store updates arrive through your browser and may take time to appear.
Capture fails or the page changes
SnapDiff can wait up to 15 seconds for a page to finish loading. You can cancel while waiting, and failed attempts do not add completed workflows.
- Let the page and its images finish loading.
- Keep the source tab visible. On Chrome, close DevTools and leave the browser capture notice open.
- Try Single > Viewport with Current tab and Browser default.
For Area, keep the page still while selecting. For Full page, a notice tells you when only part of the page was saved. Review that portion or try again after the page settles.
Loading more posts or embedded content alone does not count as leaving the source page during full-page capture. Reloading the page, navigating away, or switching tabs still stops the capture to avoid mixing different pages.
Chrome says the extensions gallery cannot be scripted
Choose Use screenshot-only when offered. Browser-managed pages may restrict screenshots; capture a regular web page from the extension toolbar instead.
A full-page capture is too large or incomplete
Infinite feeds have no final bottom. Full-page capture follows new content for up to ten additional screens, within image and time limits. Choose Stop and save to finish sooner. A limit notice means the captured portion was saved, not that the entire feed was captured.
For very long pages, reduce browser zoom or use Area for a smaller section. Use Area for a separate scrolling panel. Browser restrictions, navigation, or a page that will not scroll can still prevent capture.
Local files and restricted browser pages
For a local HTML file in Chrome, enable Allow access to file URLs in SnapDiff's extension details, then reopen the popup. On browser-managed pages, choose Use screenshot-only when offered.
Pixel Diff is unavailable or misleading
Use a completed A/B pair. Different sizes support Diff, but layout reflow and non-overlapping areas count as changes.
- Match viewport settings and zoom when possible.
- Use side-by-side review for Multi groups.
- Capture shorter pages if the comparison is too large.

The chosen language did not change the page
Choose a language the website supports. If the site has its own language picker or language-specific address, open that version first. Save edits before Reload & capture. See language simulation.
An export is too large
Choose PNG when the format picker recommends it. For a very large comparison, use shorter captures or a smaller group.
PDF export stops at 500 pages or 64 MiB of embedded image data. These limits do not describe the final PDF file size. If you reach one, use PNG or capture a shorter section. See image and PDF exports.
An accessibility report failed or has no findings
For Not checked or Scan failed, enable Check accessibility and take a new capture. Review findings alongside manual keyboard and screen-reader checks. Saved reports stay local and are available for free. See accessibility checks.
Captures are missing or storage is full
Open the browser profile where you saved your work. To free space, export important images and reports, then delete older captures individually. Manage your library.
Usage diagnostics and support
SnapDiff automatically reports structured action types and general failure categories to PostHog where browser permissions allow. There is no Diagnostics & privacy dialog or usage-reporting switch. Screenshots, page URLs, annotation content, and raw error messages are excluded. See what is reported.
For a support or privacy request, open Captures > Help > Copy support ID and include that ID with your message. It identifies this installation's events without sending your captures. Copy it before clearing extension storage or uninstalling.
Browser permissions and delivery
Firefox controls technical and interaction data permission in its own extension settings. Reporting stops while that permission is disabled; SnapDiff cannot override it. Offline or failed delivery uses a bounded queue, with events expiring after seven days on the next write or delivery attempt. Captures and exports continue normally when PostHog is unavailable. Past local activity is not reconstructed.
