Capture the visible page, a full page, or a selected area.

Save a page exactly as it looks, ready to review or share.

ModeUse it for
ViewportThe visible page, such as a dialog or a page header.
Full pageA longer page or its main scrolling panel.
AreaA specific detail, such as a button, chart, or section.

Take a screenshot

  1. Open the page and click SnapDiff in your browser toolbar.
  2. Choose Single, then Viewport, Full page, or Area.
  3. Start the capture. For Area, choose Draw area or Select element in the on-page toolbar; press Esc to cancel.
  4. Keep the page visible until the editor opens.

If the page is still loading, SnapDiff shows Preparing visible content... before capture begins. You can cancel while waiting. Let images settle before starting for the clearest result.

Capture an area or element

Both methods are available on Chrome and Firefox, including either side of an A/B comparison. On Chrome, Area keeps your selected device preset or custom viewport. Firefox uses the current tab's layout.

  • Draw area: drag a rectangle in any direction and release to capture.
  • Select element: hover to highlight an element, then click to capture it. Selecting a link or button does not activate it.
  • Select parent: select the surrounding card or section instead of a small child element, then choose Capture. You can also press Arrow Up for the parent, Arrow Down to return to the previous child, and Enter to capture.
  • Cancel: choose Cancel or press Esc. Canceling does not use a workflow.

Area capture saves visible content inside your selection without SnapDiff's toolbar or highlight.

  • Offscreen content and hidden parts of scrolling panels are not included.
  • Shadows outside a selected element are not included.
  • Embedded frames and some web components are selected as a whole.

Keep the page still while selecting. If the page moves or the selected element moves, resizes, or disappears before capture, select it again once the page has settled.

For responsive Area capture on Chrome, SnapDiff fits larger viewports into the tab for selection and saves the crop at the selected size. Your original viewport, zoom, and scroll position return after capture or cancellation.

Capture a full page

Full page scrolls and joins screenshots as it goes. Finite pages capture to the bottom within image and time limits. Growing feeds can include up to ten additional screens beyond the content loaded at the start.

  • Choose Stop and save to keep the portion captured so far.
  • Choose Cancel capture to discard the attempt.
  • If the page or a capture limit prevents completion, SnapDiff saves the completed portion with a notice.

Live pages can change while SnapDiff scrolls. Review the finished image before sharing.

Choose Area for details inside a separate scrolling panel.

Full-page captures omit bottom-docked overlays, such as floating chat bars, so they do not cover page content at the joins. Floating headers that appear while scrolling are hidden during later screenshot sections. Use Viewport to include those controls.

On Chrome, close DevTools before capturing and leave any browser capture notice open until the capture finishes.

Next: annotate your screenshot, compare two versions, or export an image or PDF.
