SnapDiff keeps screenshots, annotations, and saved accessibility reports in the browser profile where you capture them. Local accessibility scans run locally; SnapDiff does not upload your screenshots or reports.

Your capture library is local

Each installation has its own capture library. You decide which images and reports become downloaded files and where to share them.

Imported A/B images stay local too. SnapDiff uses only the file you select or the image you paste. It does not read your clipboard automatically or connect to your Figma account. Your source file stays unchanged.

Local diagnostics

SnapDiff keeps aggregate usage and failure counts locally, separate from captures. There is no diagnostics dialog or report-sharing control.

Local counters contain action counts, general failure categories, and activity dates. They exclude screenshots, page URLs, annotation content,. They are not uploaded as an aggregate report. Recording is best effort, and downloads count the browser accepting a download rather than confirming the file finished saving.

Deleting a capture does not reset aggregate counts or delete events already reported remotely.

Automatic usage and diagnostic reporting

SnapDiff automatically reports structured usage and diagnostics to PostHog , with no in-app opt-out. Access to the configured PostHog host is a required extension permission. Firefox requires its own technical and interaction data permission to remain optional, so reporting only runs while that browser permission is granted. SnapDiff respects this platform control.

SnapDiff sends action types such as capture, comparison, annotation, and export; general failure categories; event times; extension version; browser family; and a random installation identifier. Sample activity is labeled separately. Screenshots, page URLs/titles, annotation content, accessibility findings, raw error messages or stacks are excluded. Session replay and automatic page/click tracking are not used.

PostHog processes the requests, including their IP address and browser request metadata. SnapDiff disables GeoIP enrichment and person-profile creation. This identifier describes a browser installation, not a known person or account.

Clearing extension storage removes pending events and the local identifier; future use creates a new one. Uninstalling stops future extension reporting. Events already received by PostHog are separate; deleting captures or uninstalling does not delete them. For a deletion request, choose Help > Copy support ID before clearing storage, then contact SnapDiff with that ID. Historical local counters are not uploaded.

The pending queue is bounded. Events expire after seven days and are removed on the next queue write or delivery attempt. Delivery is best effort and may be delayed or missed. Events already sent remain subject to the PostHog project's retention settings or deletion. Read the Privacy Policy for provider and contact details.

Captures can contain sensitive information

Capture pages you are authorized to use and review exports before sharing. Full-page images can include content below the visible area; accessibility reports can include URLs and HTML snippets.

Use a dedicated redaction tool for sensitive content. SnapDiff's annotations are editable feedback and leave original screenshots unchanged.

Browser access during capture

SnapDiff uses browser permissions to capture the page you choose. Keep it visible until capture finishes. Save page edits before using language simulation, which reloads the page.

SnapDiff uses browser permissions to:

• access the page you choose during capture;
• keep captures and settings in your browser;
• save images, PDFs, and reports to your downloads folder; and
• automatically report structured usage and diagnostics to PostHog where browser permissions allow.

Chrome also shows a debugger access notice during capture, responsive review, language simulation, and optional accessibility checks. Leave the notice open until capture finishes. Firefox does not request this access and does not offer responsive or language simulation.

Install and uninstall pages

After installation, SnapDiff opens a skippable setup page with a local sample comparison and a link to this documentation. Sample images are created in your browser and stay in the local library. Opening the setup page or sample does not upload capture data.

After uninstallation, your browser opens SnapDiff's website feedback page. SnapDiff does not receive an uninstall reason automatically, and nothing is sent unless you write and send an email.

Connectivity

SnapDiff has no checkout, paid plan, or license-verification service. PostHog receives automatic structured usage and diagnostic events where browser permissions allow, separately from screenshot storage. The websites you capture continue to use their own services as usual.

Deletion and protecting your work

Export important work before removing the extension or clearing browser storage, which removes local captures. Deleting a capture also removes its local report; downloaded and shared copies remain separate.
